Successor HCC days canceled due to low enthusiasm

The successor to the HCC days and the Gameplay, ‘Home Multimedia Entertainment’, will not be held this year. There would be ‘insufficient interest’ for the event from publisher HUB, which was labeled a success last year.

The fair was to be held in the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht from 5 to 7 November, but the HME website states that this will not take place. People who have already bought a ticket will get their money back. The main reason for the cancellation of the event would be ‘insufficient interest among exhibitors and the different areas of interest’.

Remarkably enough, the publisher still judged last year’s edition of the event as a ‘roaring success’, with 54,000 visitors and satisfied exhibitors. However, according to director Johan van Dijk of event organizer MagEvents, part of HUB Publishers, there was ‘no other choice’. According to him, it is due to the ‘crisis’ that exhibitors would no longer be interested. It is not clear whether the event may take place next year.

In 2008 the organizers of the HCC days and the Power Unlimited Gameplay joined forces in the new event HME. It is not known whether those exchanges will now continue separately. In any case, the HCC breeds in a way to be able to keep the HCC days. In 2008, many HCC members still criticized HME.
