Studio releases outer space adventure Outer Wilds exclusively via Epic Store for a limited time

Mobius Digital is releasing its crowdfunded space exploration game Outer Wilds first to Xbox One and on PC for a limited time exclusively through the Epic Store. Other game stores will follow later.

Mobius Digital has announced the temporary exclusive release in the Epic Store on Fig, the crowdfunding site from which the studio obtained funding for the development. That was in September 2015. The game has now reached beta status and a release seems to be imminent.

Other platforms will follow later, the studio reports. “Our goal is to bring the game to your preferred platform as quickly as possible.” According to the studio, collaborations with Epic, Xbox and publisher Annapurna Interactive have kept the small business going and brought Outer Wilds to where it is today.

It is a game where the player must unravel ‘the mysteries of the solar system’, which is stuck in a time loop, by traveling from planet to planet. It is one of several games that will be released exclusively through the Epic Store upon release. Metro: Exodus, Borderlands 3 and Ghost Recon Breakpoint preceded the game, among others.
