Striking Distance shares gameplay from horror game The Callisto Protocol
Striking Distance Studios has shared a second gameplay trailer of the space horror game The Callisto Protocol. The game is being created by a team of developers who previously created Dead Space, led by Dead Space co-creator Glen Schofield.
The gameplay trailer was shown during the opening night of gamescom 2022 and again underlines that The Callisto Project will be a very gory, horrific game, similar to its spiritual predecessor Dead Space. In The Callisto Project, set on Jupiter’s moon Callisto, players take on the role of Jacob Lee. He must escape from the Black Iron Prison full of monsters. Lee has, among other things, a firearm and a kind of gravity glove.
At the end of the gameplay trailer, Striking Distance Studios shows another cinematic Tomb Raider-esque scene where Jacob is dragged by water and must dodge obstacles. Like all trailers for The Callisto Project, this trailer also ends with a brutal death animation. As the developer said earlier, “By combining elements of ferocity, atmosphere, suspense, humanity and hopelessness, we want to create unforgettable scares.”
The Callisto Protocol will be released on December 2 for PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, and PC. The game is made by Striking Distance Studios, consisting of dozens of ex-Dead Space developers, led by Gel Schofield, one of the creators of the well-known horror franchise Dead Space. The game is published by PUBG publisher Krafton.
