Strikerz Unveils First Gameplay Free-to-Play FIFA Competitor UFL
Developer Strikerz Inc. reveals UFL’s first gameplay footage in an extended video. The game must be playable ‘without mandatory payments’ and will be released ‘when it’s finished’ sometime in 2022 for the PlayStation 4 and 5, the Xbox One and the Xbox Series X|S.
In addition to simply playing soccer, players can create their own team and customize formations, strategies and kits in UFL, as evidenced by the short gameplay clips, starting at 2:50 PM. One of the menus also contains a reference to the Team Pass, presumably a battle pass equivalent. For the time being, the developer has not disclosed anything about the revenue model of the free-to-play FIFA and eFootball competitor.
Strikerz further emphasizes in the presentation the ‘fair to play’ principle for the flagship mode Global Online League. The idea is that players get opponents with roughly the same level of play through a matchmaking system. There are also unranked game modes available in addition to regular competitive matches and leagues. Players can also set up their own leagues and play online or offline.
Additionally, Strikerz Inc. some new partnerships. For now, it was only known that West Ham United would lend its brand name and players to the game. Meanwhile, it appears that UFL also includes Celtic, Borussia Mönchengladbach, AS Monaco and Beşiktaş J. Finally, the developer is announcing multiple “ambassadors” who will also appear in the game as playable characters. UFL includes Cristiano Ronaldo, Kevin de Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku. Ultimately, there should be 5000 licensed players from around the world in the game.
