Strategy game Pikmin 4 will be released for Nintendo Switch in July

Strategy game Pikmin 4 will be released on July 21. Nintendo announced this during its Direct presentation. The game will be released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. The company also showed the first gameplay footage of the game.

Nintendo announced the release date of Pikmin 4 with a new trailer. The trailer shows how the main character lands with a spaceship in a kind of backyard. The first gameplay footage shows, among other things, new ice Pikmin, which can freeze enemies and pools of water. The trailer also shows Oatchi, a puppy-like creature that helps players, and a fight with some kind of spider.

Pikmin games revolve around controlling little creatures called Pikmin. In the games, players are stranded on a deserted planet, where they need the Pikmin to solve puzzles, defeat enemies and collect food.

Nintendo announced Pikmin 4 last year. The company said at the time that the game would be released in 2023, but did not share any further details. It is the first new Pikmin game since part three, which appeared in 2013 for the Wii U. The company did release a remaster of Pikmin 3 for the Switch at the end of 2020.
