StemWijzer and Kieskompas are struggling with persistent DDoS attacks
StemWijzer and Kieskompas are also struggling with DDoS attacks on Wednesday and are therefore difficult to reach. The organization behind Kieskompas says it is getting help from Google in repelling the attack.
Kieskompas tells NOS.nl that the attacks have been increasing since this morning. According to director Willem Blanken, the website has received help from Project Shield, a Google service that is intended to protect news websites against DDO attacks. This would have made it possible to get the voting aid online again last night.
On Wednesday, the websites are not available at certain times. At the time of writing, the websites seem to be working again, while the election aids were not available for some time before. The StemWijzer and Kieskompas websites were also offline on Tuesday evening as a result of Ddos attacks.
Kieskompas and StemWijzer will report the attacks together. According to Blanken, there is also contact with a cyber team of the police in The Hague. That team must prevent traces from being erased unintentionally, according to the director. It is not clear who is behind the DDOs attacks.
