SteelSeries Introduces Arctis 7+ and 7P+ Headsets with USB-C Port and Fast Charging
Steelseries has updated its Arctis 7 series of gaming headsets. The new Arctis 7+ and 7P+ now have USB-C ports, longer battery life and faster charging speed. The headsets are also available immediately.

Steelseries states that the headsets on a full charge now last about 30 hours, compared to about 24 hours with the previous generation. In addition, the company claims that the headset can be used for 3 hours after 15 minutes of fast charging. However, a computer or console may not be able to provide the required amperage and users will have to supply a more powerful adapter for this.
Although the 7+ and 7P+ use USB-C for charging, there is still a small USB-like port on the headsets. It is intended for use with the included proprietary 3.5mm to USB Mini-B-eske cable. This allows the audio signal to be transmitted wired. SteelSeries does not explicitly state what this connector is, but Tom’s Guide, which has come up with a review of the new headsets, does use the word proprietary. The headset also has a regular 3.5mm port, but that is to ‘share’ audio output with another device.
Furthermore, the two new headsets are very similar to their predecessors. They support surround sound, have a retractable microphone and the dongle works on PCs, Macs, the Switch, PS5, PS4, Android devices and the Ocusus Quest 2. The Xbox is not mentioned and a Plus variant of the 7X, which focused on Xbox is not shown. The big difference between the two is that the 7P+ supports its 3D sound especially for the PlayStation 5. The wheel is also for another function on the two models: with the 7P it controls the ‘chat mix’, which controls the relative volume difference between a game and, for example, Discord, and with the 7P+ it controls the ‘sidetone’, i.e. the amount of microphone input also reflected in the headset’s speakers.
The 7+ is available in black and the 7P+ in black and white. Steelseries asks for a price of 199 euros for both the 7+ and 7P+. That is the same price that Steelseries asks for the non-plus variants, but the previous generation of these headsets is available for less at other sales points. The Plus variants do not appear to be for sale outside SteelSeries yet.
