Steam Winter Sale 2015 Start Date Leaks Again

According to a promotional email from PayPal, the Steam Winter Sale will begin on December 22. This confirms previously leaked information from the Steamworks developer group about the launch date.

The email from PayPal promotes the sale of Steam Gift Cards as the Steam Winter Sale kicks off on December 22nd. The same date was also leaked in November, because information from the Steamworks developer group on Reddit became available. The same message also revealed that traditional daily offers and flash sales will no longer be used.

The leak of the Steam Sales start date is no exception. In previous years, the data of the various promotions also leaked out, such as the Holiday Sale in 2013. Then the news was brought out via an e-mail to a developer. In 2014, PayPal did something similar to this year. The autumn promotion was leaked via a promotional e-mail.

The Steam Sales are promotions in which many games on Steam are on sale. In the old system there were offers that were sometimes available for 24 hours or only 4 hours. According to Valve, these options have been removed to improve and simplify sales. This change came around the time it became possible to return games. Valve itself mentioned that price reduction shortly after purchasing a game is one of the reasons for the return. This can easily happen with promotions such as flash sales.
