Steam Store will be updated soon with improved navigation and display

The Steam Store will be revamped soon, which means a number of things will be overhauled. For example, the homepage will be refreshed, the navigation will be improved, and it should become more visible what friends have bought and played, and which games are popular.

A list of the upcoming improvements has been posted online on the SteamWorks developers forum, but it is not publicly available. However, a user from the NeoGaf forum copied the list. The reporting shows that Steam wants to tackle the navigation and display of its Steam Store quite a bit.

The main page of the Steam Store will get bigger pictures for games, and in addition, the whole should be clearer. At the same time, additional links will be added to the side for navigation within the store. This will provide links to new and upcoming games. It also shows what is popular among the user’s friends.

If you prefer to see something different on the main page, you will soon be able to adjust this yourself. For example, in the settings it can be indicated what kind of releases the user prefers to see on the main page. Steam itself also wants to make the display better suited to the individual user: instead of showing new games to everyone, it will soon be more focused on which user group might be interested. Finally, the options for curators will be adjusted; they get more tools to promote games or to provide information about them.

The intention is to roll out the aforementioned improvements in the coming weeks. However, an exact release date has not yet been released.
