Steam removes payment option for mods after storm of criticism

Valve has removed the payment option for game mod makers from the Steam Workshop. The payment option caused a storm of criticism and Valve says it has therefore decided to remove the function for the time being.

Valve says it implemented the payment feature with the idea of ​​giving mod developers more opportunities to monetize their creations. The company refers to examples such as Dota, Counter-Strike and DayZ. However, Valve says it underestimated that the payment function in the Steam Workshop would cause resistance among users.
