Steam Mobile App Update Includes QR Login Feature
Valve has rolled out a new version of the Steam Mobile app for Android and iOS users. The app contains a new interface, improved notifications and makes it possible to log in to the platform with a QR code.
That new login method with QR codes makes according to Valve using two-factor authentication. Users who wish to log in via a QR code must first scan the code on the login page with the camera of their mobile device. Afterwards, a confirmation page will appear that shows more information about the login attempt, such as the estimated location of the user. Valve also offers the option to only use two-factor authentication in the app without a QR code. In that case, users only need to confirm the login attempt on Steam via a notification.
The new Steam Mobile app also includes a page that will display authorized devices. Here users can check when they last logged in to these devices, but it also becomes possible to revoke permissions via the app, which means that access to the Steam account on that device is no longer possible.
The rendering of both the Steam store and the library has been overhauled and it is now also possible to install games and updates remotely on a PC. The notifications are extensively improved. They can now display comments, discussions, friend requests and information about wishlists or sales.
