Steam gives developers option to permanently ban players

Valve gives developers the option to permanently ban players from their game. The developer must pass on the user account to Valve, after which the operator of the download platform will block the account in question.

Valve has changed Steam’s terms of use. “Because nobody wants to play with cheaters,” Valve explains the new measure. The company then explains that the decision to ban a player from a particular game is made by the game’s developer or publisher. He then passes on the account information to Valve, who will implement the ban. The ban is permanent, but specific to a particular game.

Should a player wish to protest against the measure, they must contact the developer or publisher, who can then instruct Valve to lift the player’s ban. Valve leaves the tracking of players who deserve a ban to the developer or publisher of the game. The Steam operator makes it clear that the measure is intended against “disruptive players”, with Valve specifically mentioning players who use cheats.
