Steam Controller beta gets update for better profile support

Valve has added the features announced last week to the beta client for the Steam Controller. Controller registration has been made available in the beta, which makes it possible to associate personal profiles with the controller.

The beta client will prompt users of the Steam Controller to link it to their Steam account. Based on the registration, the controller can link the personal controller configurations to the user’s account. This allows users to use their own personal profiles. In addition, the new update should ensure that configurations for games that are not on Steam can be shared more easily. The arrival of the improved options for the controller configurations was already announced in the previous update.

The update has not had the desired impact for all users. On the forums, users indicate that their profiles have disappeared after the update. For some it helps to get out of the Steam beta, for others it’s just waiting for Valve to fix the problem.

The Steam Controller allows for a wide range of configurations. Simplifying profile sharing makes it easier for players to use the controller on games not supported by Valve. The option to use a personal profile without being logged in makes using multiple controllers more accessible, as each player can use their own profile.

The update also adds the ability to change the controller’s on and off sounds. Previous updates have already added a gyroscope and controller hud. Valve’s client for the Steam Controller is in open beta and the controller is on sale for $54.99.
