Stealth RTS game Commandos: Origins will be released in 2024 for PC and console
Publisher Kalypso Media has announced Commandos: Origins, a stealth RTS game set in World War II. It is the first original stealth RTS game in the series since 2003, although remasters of the first games have recently been released.
In Commandos: Origins direct players six characters who have to carry out missions during World War II. These commands each have their own actions that they can perform. The game contains more than ten missions spread across different areas, including the Arctic and Africa. Players can do this alone or with someone in co-op. This can be done via local split screen or online multiplayer. Missions can be completed in a variety of ways and players can also take control of vehicles.
Commandos: Origins will be released in 2024 for Windows, Xbox Series consoles and the PlayStation 5. A more concrete release date has not yet been shared. The game will be available on Xbox Game Pass. The developer is the German studio Claymore Game Studios. Kalypso said he was working on a new Commandos game in 2020 and said Claymore was founded for this at the time.
The first Commandos game was released in 1998 and three more games were released until 2003. These were stealth RTS games, just like Origins. In 2006, Commandos: Strike Force, an FPS, was released. All Commandos games except Origins were created by Spanish studio Pyro Studios and published by Eidos Interactive.
