A start-up has come up with a plan to make a dock for the iPad Pro that closely resembles a dock developed for the Surface Pro. The tablet is mounted on a kind of lifting arm, which makes it possible to turn and tilt the whole.

Creator Steve Warren has set up a Kickstarter campaign for his plan, where he has set a target amount of 7175 euros. However, that amount was already exceeded by a large margin shortly after the start of the campaign. At the time of writing, tens of thousands of euros have already been raised.

Warren calls his idea the MagicDock, a dock for the iPad Pro that resembles the dock for the Surface Pro developed by Kensington in appearance. This is because it is a standard where the iPad Pro is attached to a kind of lifting arm, and thus can be adjusted in height. The screen can also be rotated up to 90 degrees, allowing the tablet to be positioned in all kinds of ways.

Furthermore, the MagicDock has connections so that the iPad Pro can be used as a desktop. This is possible via HDMI, but there is also a USB-C connection. In addition, there is a 3.5 mm connection for audio and a USB connection with type-a connector.

A prototype of the MagicDock has already been developed, after creator Warren has tinkered with the design a number of times. As a result, Warren expects to be able to deliver the dock to people who support the project as early as October. Prices start at $99 for the early bird versions.
