Start-up smartphone maker OnePlus sends first devices to customers
The Chinese manufacturer OnePlus will send the first devices to customers on Thursday, the company says in a statement. The release was delayed a few days to fix an OpenSSL bug, but the company is now ready to start shipping orders.
The first devices will be mailed on Thursday, but it is unclear whether all orders will go out at the same time. The copies will go to people who have bought the device by invitation, the statement states, including given to Techradar.
With the delivery of the first copies, the OnePlus One will be on the market for the first time. The smartphone should be available to the general public sometime in the coming months. OnePlus, presumably a subsidiary of Oppo, positions its device as a competitor to the Nexus 5 by combining high-end specifications with a relatively low price. The phone runs on a specially made version of CyanogenMod. OnePlus presented the device in April.
