Start-up announces F(x) Pro 1 smartphone with physical keyboard
During the MWC, the company F(x)tec announced the F(x) Pro 1, a modern slider phone with a physical keyboard. The device also has a 6 “OLED screen, but has to do with a somewhat older Snapdragon soc.
F(x)tec originated from the startup Livermorium that demonstrated a Moto Mod module with physical keyboard for the Motorola Moto Z a year ago. That plan was scrapped, after which the company focused on developing its own smartphone.
The result is a 6″ smartphone with an OLED panel and a resolution of 2160×1080 pixels, 6GB of ram and 128GB of storage that can be expanded with micro SD cards. The processor is the Snapdragon 835, probably to keep costs down. The device also has a 3.5mm audio connection, stereo speakers, NFC, and USB-C.
The feature that should distinguish the F(x) Pro 1 is the slide-out keyboard with 64 keys spread over five lines and with backlight. Extended, the screen is at an angle of 155 degrees relative to the keyboard. The smartphone slider should appear in July and will then run Android 9. The price with pre-orders is 649 euros. F(x)tec will demonstrate the smartphone during Mobile World Congress.
