The open beta of the upcoming multiplayer shooter Star Wars: Battlefront kicks off on October 8 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows. The test will run until October 12 and will include Walker Assault on Hoth, Drop Zone on Sullust, and Survival Mission on Tatooine modes.

Walker Assault supports 40 players, Drop Zone 16 and Survival Mission can be played online or offline in single player or co-op. On consoles, Survival Mission also supports split screen. Battlefront will not get a server browser. Instead, DICE makes its own matchmaking system. However, in an interview with PlayStation Lifestyle, a developer does say that the game will get dedicated servers.

To keep track of players’ statistics, there is the Companion Experience, an overview that is somewhat reminiscent of BattleLog for the Battlefield games. There, in addition to viewing their stats, players can also find and customize their gear, and maintain a friend list. Finally, there they find the card game Base Command, with which they can unlock Star Cards, weapons and more. According to the developer, players can reach a maximum of level 5 in the beta. All stats will be reset after the beta.

The beta is open to anyone who has an EA account, DICE said. The beta download will take approximately 7GB on consoles and 11GB on Windows. Players can start preloading from Wednesday, October 7 at 11 a.m. The exact time when the beta will start on October 8 will be announced later by DICE via the Twitter account of the game. The game will be released in Europe on November 20.
