Star Labs Announces Linux Laptop With AMD Ryzen 7
British manufacturer Star Labs has announced a new version of its StarBook Mk V with an AMD Ryzen 7 processor. The laptop was already available to order with an Intel processor and Linux distribution of your choice.
Star Labs announced the StarBook Mk V in 2021. The laptop initially came in two variants: a version with an Intel Core i3 and Intel Core i7. There will now be a option with an AMD processor added. The models with an Intel processor are planned to be delivered in May 2022. The AMD models will follow a month later.
The Starbook Mk V can be equipped with the AMD Ryzen 7 5800U and comes standard with a Linux distribution of your choice. Customers can choose from Ubuntu, elementary OS, Linux Mint, Manjaro, MX Linux, and Zorin OS, among others. For an additional cost, the laptop can also be purchased with a Windows license.
The 14″ display has a maximum resolution of 1920×1080. Furthermore, the laptop is equipped with a USB-type-c port with Thunderbolt 4 and three USB-type-a ports. The laptop also has a microSD card slot and a combo jack for audio in and out Finally, the laptop also has an HDMI port.The memory is 8GB as standard, but can be expanded up to 64GB.
The laptop can be pre-ordered on the Star Labs website. The version with an Intel i3 processor starts at 922 euros. The version with an AMD Ryzen 7 processor starts at 1075 euros. Star Labs plans to ship the laptops this summer.
