Square Enix reveals new footage of Final Fantasy VII remake
Square Enix has released a new trailer for the upcoming Final Fantasy VII remake. It’s been more than three years since the publisher last showed anything from the game. Square Enix promises to announce more in June.
The trailer, which lasts about a minute, contains gameplay footage, but it does state that it is a preliminary version and that changes can still take place. Since the announcement of the remake in 2015, it has been quiet around the game. During E3 that year, Square Enix showed a cinematic trailer and later that year the first gameplay footage came out, but the makers haven’t shown any new material since then.
The new video closes with the words ‘more to come in June’, without mentioning a date. Square Enix and Sony are likely to show more of the game at the E3 show, which starts on June 11.
Final Fantasy VII was released for the PlayStation 1 in 1997. It was the first part of the Final Fantasy series to be partially rendered in 3D and it was also the first game in the series to be officially released in Europe. The remake is based on the original, but not the same game. Turn-based battles make way for real-time action.
The Final Fantasy VII remake will be released first on the PlayStation 4 and will be coming to other platforms after that. When the game will be released and which other platforms that will be, has not yet been announced.
