Square Enix has renamed fantasy game Project Athia to Forspoken. The publisher also confirms the release date of 2022 and shows additional images. Ella Balinska is a voice and mocap actor for lead actor Frey Holland.
In Forspoken, gamers play the role of Frey Holland, who suddenly finds himself in the world of Athia. Athia is a dilapidated city where fantasy creatures such as dragons and mutilated bears and wolves roam free. Holland gets magical powers to defeat these creatures. For example, she can shoot branches from the ground, or use magic to attack, defend or move quickly around the world. Ella Balinska plays Holland; Balinska is best known for the 2019 film Charlie’s Angels.
According to Square Enix, Forspoken was developed specifically for the PlayStation 5, although it will also be released for PC in 2022. The game was first announced in June of last year. In January, Sony announced a January 2022 release date, though Square Enix is sticking to 2022. The game will be a PS5 and PC exclusive for two years. The game is being developed by Luminous Productions, a new development studio of Square Enix. The Japanese studio has many developers who previously worked on Final Fantasy 15.
