Square Enix has postponed the release of its fanatasy game Forspoken to January 24, 2023. The game was originally supposed to be released on October 11, but will be released later due to ‘a strategic choice’.

“As a result of discussions with key partners, we have made the strategic decision to move Forspoken’s release date to January 24, 2023. All game elements are complete and development is in its final stages,” reads a post on Forspoken’s official Twitter page.

Why Square Enix chooses to release Forspoken at a later date is unknown. It may be related to the November 9 release of God of War Ragnarök, but Square Enix and Sony have not confirmed this.

It is the second time that the release of Forspoken has been delayed. Initially, the game would be released in May of this year for the PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. Luminous Productions, which is responsible for Square Enix’s new IP, indicated at the time that it needed more time to finish the game. Tweakers wrote a preview about Forspoken last year.
