Spotify wants to use machine learning to create short podcast previews
Spotify has acquired Podz. This is a start-up that has developed a technique that uses machine learning to generate short promotional clips for podcasts. This should be integrated into Spotify by the end of this year.
According to Spotify, Podz’s technology automatically creates audio clips that give users a good preview of key moments in a podcast episode. These clips are generated using machine learning.
Podz was previously marketed as a podcast feed, providing users with an overview of podcasts promoted with short clips of up to 60 seconds, TechCrunch writes. These short audio clips were compiled by Podz’s algorithm.
With the Podz technique, Spotify wants to bring its 2.6 million podcasts on the platform to more users. The employees of Podz will start working for Spotify and the streaming service will integrate the technology of the start-up. According to Spotify, users will see the first results of this at the end of this year.
