Spotify is working on a feature to let multiple users manage playlists

Spotify is working on an option to let multiple users edit the same playlist and manage music. With this feature, listeners at a party can all add or remove music from a queue.

The feature is currently under internal testing, but came out through a Twitter user who was given the option. The function is called ‘Social Listening’ and appears in the screen where the user can also switch between different devices. Currently, the feature is only available to Spotify employees, which seems to indicate that the feature is being tested internally and could be made public soon.

With Social Listening, it is possible to invite Spotify contacts to manage a playlist. For this, the users have to scan a special code with their camera. The playback screen also shows who else is listening to a playlist while music is playing. From the screenshots on Twitter, it seems that all users can control the music through the normal Spotify interface, and thus pause or rewind, as well as control the volume, or shuffle or repeat songs.
