Spotify is testing new car mode in Android app

Some users of the Spotify app on Android phones have recently had the option to test a new car mode in the app. 9to5Google reports that. The new mode should replace Car View, the car mode that was removed from the app by Spotify in November 2021.

From screenshots who published 9to5Google, it turns out that there are three modes available in the new Car Mode, a home mode, a search mode, and a library mode. Home mode contains less information than Spotify’s standard view and gets larger buttons for album art, among other things. The search function only seems to be controlled by voice commands and music lists can be scrolled through the library.

9to5Google mentions that some Android users will see a notification to test the new option as soon as their device connects to a car via bluetooth. It is unclear at the time of writing whether the option can also be activated by iOS users.
