Spotify Introduces Custom Search and Radio for Premium Subscriptions
Spotify gives users of its Premium subscription, among other things, a new search function and a modified artist radio function. In addition, the navigation has been overhauled. The update is coming out for Android and iOS.
According to Spotify, the update, which will be released worldwide from Thursday, is intended to make discovering new music easier. The search page now displays the genres a user listens to most often at the top. The selection adapts to listening behaviour, the company promises.
In addition, radio stations based on a particular artist or song are now ‘endless’ and the radio stations refresh regularly. In the current version of the service, a station usually remained unchanged. The radio stations must also be downloadable.
Finally, Spotify changes the navigation within its app, so that only the ‘Home’, ‘Search’ and ‘Library’ buttons can be found in the navigation bar at the bottom, so that ‘Browse’ and ‘Radio’ disappear. According to the music streaming service, the Home tab is mainly intended for suggestions and users can go to Library for their own songs and podcasts.
