Spotify has 40 million paying users
Spotify has 40 million paying users. The music service has announced this. The milestone comes about six months after the company said it persuaded 30 million people to pay for the streaming service.
Spotify confirmed the number to 9to5Mac after founder Daniel Ek tweeted about it. This means that the number of paying users of Spotify is growing faster and faster: ten million paying users have been added so quickly. The company reached the previous milestone of thirty million on March 21.
This is probably partly due to the new setup of Spotify Family. The music service now allows six users to use Premium for fifteen euros per month. Previously, two users could listen for that amount.
Spotify has become embroiled in a competition with Apple, which introduced its streaming service Music last year. It is also possible to take out a subscription for fifteen euros per month with six people.
