Spotify has 100 million active users

Spotify’s customer base has grown to 100 million active users. This is reported by the streaming music provider. A year ago, there were 75 million active users of the service.

The service does not report how many of the 100 million active users are currently paying subscribers. In March of this year, Spotify announced that there were 30 million paying listeners, compared to 20 million a year earlier and 10 million the year before.

Spotify was launched in 2008, originally from Sweden, and by March 2011, the company already had one million paying customers. By the end of 2012, that had grown to 5 million subscribers and 20 million active users. The service is facing increasing competition from Apple Music in particular. Apple Music managed to attract 15 million paying users in less than a year.
