Spotify for Apple Watch gets support for offline downloads
Spotify’s Apple Watch app will receive support to store playlists, albums and podcasts offline from now on. The streaming service announced this in a press release. The feature will be rolled out in the coming weeks and is only available to Premium subscribers.
To save audio files offline, a user of the Spotify app for the Apple Watch will have to tap the options menu of a playlist, album or podcast. This is stated in the company’s press release. Then he or she must indicate the option ‘Download to Apple Watch’. After the files have been downloaded, a green arrow will appear next to the title. The saved songs will be streamed to connected devices in 96 kbps. This new feature will be supported from Apple Watch Series 3 watches. WatchOS 6.0 is required in conjunction with a Spotify Premium account.
Since November last year, users of the Spotify app for the Apple Watch have been able to stream audio files directly to connected devices without the need for an iPhone connection.
