Spotify is making innovations in its Family subscription. Beginning in the fall, admins will have the option to manage an explicit content filter for all individual accounts. There will also be a Family Mix, a playlist for the whole family.

Spotify is already testing the innovations in Ireland and says that from the fall all users worldwide will get the new options. According to Spotify, parental controls are a feature that users have long been asking for. From now on, administrators of a Family account can turn on a filter for all individual accounts to block music with explicit content. Now users can only do that themselves with their own account.

A Family Mix will also be available with Premium Family accounts. That’s a personalized playlist of music that the whole family should enjoy. For each listening session it is possible to indicate which family members are listeners. There will also be a Family Hub, where administrators of the account can adjust all settings related to the Family subscription.

Spotify Family is a subscription that consists of six Spotify Premium accounts. Participants in such a subscription do not have to be relatives of each other, but according to the conditions all six must live at the same address.
