Sphero has unveiled an addition to its Mini Robot Ball. In addition to the robot, the Sphero Mini Activity Kit contains all kinds of components to set up obstacle courses, games and physics practicals.

Not all the specific details of the Mini Activity Kit have been released yet, but there is a trailer. Furthermore, it is clear from the product page that the kit has a 28 piece construction set, along with six bowling pins, three cones and 15 cards with ‘voice-inspired challenges and games’. The Mini Activity Kit will be released on October 2. The price will be $80, MacRumors said.

The Sphero Mini itself is a ball-shaped robot with a gyroscope, accelerometer, LED lighting and a motor that can bring the ball to a speed of one meter per second. The ball can be controlled with an app, but with the Sphero Edu app you can even build instructions with prefabricated blocks or JavaScript.

Sphero has also released a programmable robot car and a larger Mini in the past, as well as one in the form of a replica Star Wars droid BB-8. The toys are intended to allow young children to engage with science topics in a fun and practical way.
