Speedrunner sets new world record in Mario 64
The world record for completing Mario 64 as quickly as possible while achieving all 120 stars has finally been broken to a time under one hour and forty minutes. A user using the pseudonym Cheese05 took an hour, 39 minutes and 57 seconds to complete the record attempt.
Kotaku reports that. Cheese05, known in everyday life as Allan Alvarez, took no less than seven months to reach the milestone. He is the first to dive below the ‘magic’ limit of 1 hour 40 minutes to complete Mario 64 with all 120 stars. In the video images that have appeared of the ‘speedrunner’, he also lets his family share in the joy. Those interested in the images can view them on Twitch.
Cheese05 faced stiff competition. Among speedrunners, Mario 64 is one of the most popular games, with videos sometimes reaching millions of viewers. The game is played on the Nintendo 64, with speedrunners opting for the Japanese version, because it plays just a little faster. Nintendo later released the game for the DS as well.
The speedrunner has been working on completing Mario 64 as quickly as possible since 2015. He has often come close to breaking the 100-minute limit, but often saw his record attempts miss due to small mistakes.
