Specifications of Synology DS415+nas come online
The specifications of the Synology DiskStation DS415+ have appeared online. The nas gets a quad-core Intel Atom processor and four disks can be plugged in, good for a maximum gross storage of 24TB.
Synology is holding a meeting on Thursday at which the DS415+ may be officially announced, but the suspected product brochure is already online. The DS415+ is equipped with a 2.4GHz clocked Atom CPU, along with 2GB DDR3 RAM. The processor supports hardware AES encryption, which according to Synology makes read and write speeds with encrypted data achievable of 235MB/s and 213MB/s respectively. Without encryption, the speeds are 235MB/s and 234MB/s respectively.
The NAS has two gigabit Ethernet connections with support for failover and link aggregation. There are also two USB 3.0, a USB 2.0 and an esata connection. Two 92mm fans are present to cool the NAS. The storage system can accommodate four 3.5″ drives, with hard drives up to 6TB supported. This provides a gross storage capacity of 24TB.
The DS415+ runs on DSM 5 and offers support for the iscsi protocol and Synology High Availability, among other things, whereby data on an active and passive NAS system is always synchronized. The suggested retail price is EUR 544.40.
