Specifications of four Synology consumer NAS systems are online

The specifications of a new generation of NAS systems from Synology have come online. It concerns the Synology DS920+, DS720+, DS420+ and DS220+, which are equipped with Intel Celeron sockets by the manufacturer.

The Synology DS920+ is the most comprehensive model, with four bays and the Intel Celeron J4125 quad-core processor. That soc has a clock speed of 2GHz and a boost clock speed of up to 2.7GHz. This gives the NAS a more powerful processor than its predecessor, the DS918+, which has a J3455 with a clock speed of 1.5GHz. Graphically there is also an improvement with the new soc, with the Intel Graphics HD 600 instead of HD 500. The DS920+ has two gigabit LAN ports and 4GB of ram, but can be equipped with a maximum of 8GB.

The DS720+ also has the Celeron J4125, but this NAS would have two drive bays and Synology supplies it with 2GB of ram as standard, while the company mentions 6GB as the maximum amount of RAM. The DS420+ does have four bays, but with the Celeron J4025 dual-core a less powerful processor. Compared to the DS920+, this NAS lacks an esata port. The entry-level in the new series is the DS220+. This is a 2-bay NAS with a Celeron J4025 and 2GB of ram, which is expandable up to 6GB. It is striking that this nas also has two gigabit LAN ports, in contrast to, for example, the DS218+, which only has one.

Synology has not yet officially unveiled the NAS systems and the prices are not yet known. The manufacturer temporarily put the specifications online, but canceled this again, Black Void Club, Marius Hosting and NasCompares, among others, noted. It seems that an official release may follow shortly.
