Specifications and renders of Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G appear online
Samsung’s Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G will have a 6.9 “screen with a resolution of 3200×1440 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz. At the back of the device are three cameras, including a 108-megapixel copy and a camera with 5x optical zoom.
The specifications and presumably official marketing renders have been put online by WinFuture. That German site regularly publishes information about smartphones that have not yet been announced. According to the site, Samsung is emphasizing the improved S Pen in its marketing for the new device, which would have a delay of 9 milliseconds. Samsung would also collaborate with Microsoft and recommend the device as optimized for playing Xbox games via streaming with xCloud. Samsung would also like to offer synchronization with Microsoft’s OneNote when taking notes with the S Pen.
The screen is about the same size as that of the Note 10+ and the Galaxy S20 Ultra. It is an OLED screen with a resolution of 3200×1440 pixels and the maximum refresh rate of 120Hz would also be available at that resolution. The S20 Ultra also has a 120Hz screen, but that only works at a lower resolution. Furthermore, the Note 20 Ultra 5G would be the first smartphone to use a protective layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 7.
On the renders, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G can be seen in bronze and black. At the back is a camera island with three cameras. According to WinFuture, the primary camera uses an updated 108-megapixel sensor with dual-pixel autofocus. In addition, laser autofocus is present. With that, the Note 20 Ultra 5G should be able to focus better than the S20 Ultra, which also has a 108-megapixel camera.
Furthermore, the Note 20 Ultra 5G has a 12-megapixel camera with 5x optical zoom and a periscopic construction. With the S20 Ultra, which has a similar zoom lens, Samsung called it 100x Space Zoom. That marketing term does not return on the Note 20 Ultra. The third camera is a 12-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide angle lens.
The device would contain a 4500mAh battery that can be half charged in 30 minutes. The phone has room for two SIM cards and also e-SIM support. The Note 20 Ultra 5G comes out with Android 10 with the Samsung One UI 2 shell. The soc is, just like the S20 series, the Exynos 990 and it is assisted by 12GB of ram. There will be versions with 256GB and 512GB of flash storage, and maybe other variants.
The official announcement of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra will follow on August 5. Samsung will then hold an Unpacked event. The introduction of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is also expected. It is not yet clear what the new Note device will cost, but it is expected that the suggested retail price will be well above a thousand euros.
