Sparkle introduces low-profile GeForce 200 series with passive cooling
Sparkle has introduced its new GeForce 210, GT220 and GT240. The cards are passively cooled and, thanks to the low-profile design, are suitable for small htpc cases. Prices and availability are not yet known.
The GeForce GT220 and GT240 both have two heat pipes that dissipate the heat to a copper cooling block. According to Sparkle, the cards only take up one PCI-e slot. They have a 128-bit interface and 1GB DDR3 memory clocked at 1400Mhz. The GT220 has 48 stream processors that perform their work at 1360Mhz and a core clock of 625Mhz. The GT240 has 96 stream processors, which are clocked slightly lower at 1340Mhz. The core is also clocked a bit slower at 550Mhz.
The GeForce 210 only needs a corrugated aluminum heatsink. The card is equipped with 512MB of 800Mhz clocked DDR2 memory with a 64bits interface. The core runs at 589Mhz and the 16 stream processors are clocked at 1402Mhz.
All Cards offer DirectX 10.1 support and have HDMI, DVI and VGA outputs. Nvidia’s PureVideo HD provides the hardware acceleration for decoding HD movies, and PhysX, Cuda and stereoscopic 3D playback are also supported. Sparkle has not yet announced availability and pricing.
