After the failed moon landing of the Beresheet, SpaceIL will try again to land a lander on the moon, called Beresheet 2.0. If successful, the mission will be the first successful private moon mission ever.

The arrival of the Beresheet 2.0 was announced by the company Twitter announced, with a short video from the director, Morris Kahn. The intention is that a new lunar lander will be built, which must successfully land on the moon. After the announcement, SpaceIL got to work right away: the team met this weekend to put the plans together. However, there are no more details yet.

The first Beresheet was supposed to land on the moon last Thursday, but a technical problem with the engines failed to land, and the spacecraft probably crashed; the team lost contact with the Beresheet at a height of 149 meters above the lunar surface.

SpaceX launched SpaceIL’s lunar lander with a Falcon 9 rocket. It was the first privately financed lunar lander, but a successful landing is still pending.
