Source code betrays the arrival of Xiaomi phone with 120Hz screen
Xiaomi seems to be working on a smartphone that will have a screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz. The company has not officially announced the arrival, but the source code of its own Miui software contains clues.
A user of the XDA Developers developer forum discovered references to a 120Hz mode in Xiaomi’s Miui software. There is a switch between a 60Hz and a 120Hz mode, so the user can choose which refresh rate the screen should be set to.
The new setting is in a beta version of Miui 11, which Xiaomi is currently in development. An accompanying piece of text states, among other things, that the 120Hz mode should ensure a smoother image. Incidentally, it is not possible to opt for 90Hz; 60Hz and 120Hz are the only options. Further details are also missing, so it is not clear what the smartphone in question would look like.
Xiaomi would not be the first to have a 120Hz screen in a smartphone. Asus and Sharp, among others, already have smartphones with a high refresh rate on the screen. Apple has had an iPad with a 120Hz screen on board for some time now.
