The developer of music recognition application Soundhound has been working on an app for searching via voice control for nine years. Hound will be available as an app, but also as a platform that developers can integrate into their own apps.

The Hound app is not yet available for download, but is currently only available for the closed test group, according to an article by Recode about the app. The app must first come out for Android and will also appear for iOS at a later stage.

In the demonstration, the developer uses the app to find a hotel room. He always enters new criteria, after which the app processes them and displays the results. The search for hotel rooms goes through travel site Expedia and there would be a total of about fifty of those services that work in Hound. It is unclear whether the app will also work outside of the United States.

The developer is known for its app Soundhound, which allows users to recognize music. That app is said to have been downloaded about 260 million times.

When exactly Hound will come out of the test phase is still unknown. The app has a lot of competition. Google, among others, has its own voice control software, as do Apple and Microsoft.
