SoundCloud will put blue ticks on certain artists, to indicate that it concerns the actual accounts of those people. Artists can receive verified status if they are known or much sought after on the audio platform.

SoundCloud reports to enter the markers to assist well-known artists and preserve their authenticity, and to allow listeners to easily recognize these artists. The platform grants status to artists, bands, DJs, labels, curators and podcasters who are known and / or sought after.

Well-known artist accounts must include a biography, profile photo, and at least one audio track to qualify for the blue check mark. The accounts cannot belong to fans, nor can they be fake accounts. In addition, it should not contain any misleading information.

SoundCloud has verified Billie Eilish, Wiz Khalifa and Trippie Redd among others, and the company promises to verify artists who have an account from the start of the platform in the near future. Other artists can request verification themselves. It can take up to 30 days for this to be awarded.

More internet services are offering the option of verified accounts to bind household names and to give fake accounts less chance of impersonating authentic. For SoundCloud, it is important to attract well-known artists to compete with Spotify and Apple Music with a paid offer.
