Sony’s Uncharted Movie Has Been Delayed Again
The filming of the beloved video game franchise Uncharted has been postponed again. Where the release was first planned for December 18 of this year, it is now March 5, 2021. A reason for the delay is not given.
The delay may be related to reports that Travis Knight, the sixth director on the project, would be leaving due to scheduling difficulties. However, that has not been officially confirmed. Deadline is certain, however, and sources from the film website also state that Ruben Fleischer is currently the biggest contender to take over. He directed Zombieland and Venom, among others.
Currently, the plan is for Tom Holland, known for the latest two live-action Spider-Man films, to take on the role of a young Nathan Drake. His older companion Sully will be played by Mark Wahlberg, known for films such as Ted and The Departed.
Sony has been trying to make an Uncharted film since around 2008, but obviously that is not going very well. It will be the first production of Sony PlayStation Productions, the studio that was set up in 2018 with the aim of filming games.
