Sony has presented the RX0 action camera. Compared to many other action cameras, the device has a larger sensor. While many action cameras have a 1/2.3″ sensor, the RX0 has a 1″ size image sensor.

Sony has given the RX0 a 15.3-megapixel Exmor RS cmos image sensor, which is assisted by a Zeiss lens with a focal equivalent of 24mm and an aperture of f/4.0. The camera can shoot photos in both jpeg and raw. The maximum shutter speed is 1/32,000s and 16 photos per second can be shot. Movie recordings can be made in 4k resolution. The camera has a slow-motion function with a speed of up to 960fps at a resolution of 1136×384 pixels.

The small action camera, with a size of 60x41x30mm and a weight of 110 grams, is water resistant to a depth of ten meters and can withstand a fall from a height of up to two meters. Sony sees the camera in particular as a device for making stereo and VR recordings by combining multiple cameras.

Up to fifteen copies of the RX0 can be controlled simultaneously via the Sony FA-WRC1M radio transmitter. In addition, several RX0s can be linked together for recording. The device will be available in October for a price of 850 euros.
