Sony Xperia 1 smartphone with 4k OLED screen costs 949 euros

Sony presents a new top model in its Xperia series at the Mobile World Congress. The Xperia 1 has a 6.5 “OLED screen with a 21:9 ratio and a 4k resolution. At the back are three cameras. The device will be released in the spring for 949 euros.

The screen of the Sony Xperia 1 has no notch and the 21:9 aspect ratio is remarkably elongated. The resolution is 3840×1644 pixels. Sony screens with the fact that the ratio is the same as that of cinema films. The phone also has a Cinema Pro feature to shoot 4k video at the same ratio. Furthermore, Sony provides the device with a Multi-Window app, which should make it possible to use apps on half the screen.

On the back of the Xperia 1 are three 12-megapixel cameras, with lenses equivalent to 16mm, 26mm and 52mm on a full-frame camera. The cameras have eye autofocus, which means they focus on the eyes when shooting a portrait. The shooting speed is up to 10 frames per second. The primary camera uses a 1/2.6″ sensor, has an f/1.6 lens and features optical image stabilization. The other two cameras have a smaller 1/3.4″ sensor and no stabilization.

Sony gives the device the Snapdragon 855-soc from Qualcomm and a 3330mAh battery. The front and back of the housing are finished with Gorilla Glass 6. The Xperia 1 will be released in the spring and has a suggested retail price of 949 euros.

Together with the Xperia 1, Sony presents the Xperia 10 and 10 Plus. Those are the successors of last year’s XA models. Like the top model, they have 21:9 screens, but they are LCDs with a lower resolution of 2560×1080 pixels. The Xperia 10 has a 6″ screen, the 10 Plus is a 6.5″ variant. There is a dual camera on the back of both devices.

The Xperia 10 has a Snapdragon 630-soc and the 10 Plus model contains the Snapdragon 636. The batteries have a capacity of 2870mAh and 3000mAh respectively. Both devices run Android 9.0 and are available immediately for the suggested retail prices of 349 and 429 euros.

Finally, Sony presents the Xperia L3, a budget model that still runs on Android 8. This device has a 5.7″ screen with an 18:9 ratio and runs on a Helio P22 soc from MediaTek. The L3 contains a 3300mAh battery and on the back is a 13-megapixel camera. There is another second 2-megapixel camera is present, which is used for a depth effect.Sony gives the Xperia L3 a suggested retail price of 199 euros.
