Sony won’t be at E3 next year
Sony will not be present at the game fair E3 in the American city of Los Angeles next June. It is the first time in the stock market’s existence, since 1995, that the Japanese company is canceling. Microsoft and Nintendo are coming.
Sony and E3 organizer ESA both confirm that Sony will not be at or around the show. Sony does not really give a reason in a statement in various media, including Polygon. “As the industry evolves, Sony is looking for inventive ways to interact with the community. We’re exploring new and familiar ways to interact with our community in 2019, and we can’t wait to share those plans.”
The Japanese manufacturer announced the price and release date of the first PlayStation at the first E3 in the 1990s. Since then, Sony has been to each of the 24 E3 trade shows. The 25th edition of the game fair will be in Los Angeles next year.
Kotaku is betting that Sony will skip E3 to save all its announcements for the reveal of a ‘PlayStation 5’ sometime after E3 next year or early 2020. Microsoft, Nintendo and many game publishers will be at the show, such as Activision , Bethesda, Epic, Square Enix, Take-Two I and Ubisoft, ESA says.
