Sony will stop offering PlayStation Plus Collection for PS5 users in May
Sony will discontinue its PlayStation Plus Collection after May 9. That’s a collection of PS4 games that PS Plus subscribers can play on their PS5 console. PS Plus users can still claim the games through May 9, after which they will remain available on their account.
Sony makes scrapping PlayStation Plus collection known at the bottom of a blog post. The company announces that the collection will be canceled after Tuesday, May 9. PS Plus subscribers can still add the games from the collection to their library until that date, after which they will remain playable as long as the user in question is a member of PlayStation Plus. After May 9, it is no longer possible to claim the games.
The PlayStation Plus Collection was introduced in 2020 along with the PlayStation 5. The collection includes several PS4 titles, which PS5 users can download and play on their console. The collection is available to all PlayStation Plus subscribers, regardless of subscription type.
There are currently 19 PS4 games in the PS Plus Collection. This includes PlayStation exclusives like Bloodborne, God of War, The Last of Us Remastered and Uncharted 4, as well as third-party games like Detroit Become Human and Fallout 4. The company also offers a game catalog that includes a wider range of PS4 and PS5 titles as part of its its more expensive PS Plus Extra and Premium subscriptions; it remains available. The company also continues to make a number of free games available to PS Plus subscribers each month. In February, these include Destiny 2 Beyond Light, OlliOlli World, Evil Dead and Mafia: Definitive Edition, for example.
