Sony has announced the prices and availability of the AG9 OLED televisions. The 55″ version has a suggested retail price of 3000 euros and the 65″ version costs 4100 euros. The televisions will be available in the Benelux from the beginning of June. The 77″ version, which costs 9,500 euros, will follow a few weeks later.

The Sony AG9 series, the successor to the AF9 series, is placed above the AG8 series because the 4k TVs have an X1 Ultimate image processor. In addition, the AG9 series televisions have support for Apple Airplay 2 and HomeKit; this is lacking in the AG8 televisions. The TVs from both series have Google Assistant and Chromecast built-in.

Both series have Acoustic Surface audio technology, which makes the screen vibrate and the sound seems to come out of the screen. The AG9 TVs also have an extra function that the AG8 TVs lack; the speakers in the screen can also be used as a center speaker in, for example, a 5.1 surround system with a receiver.

In terms of picture quality technology, the AG8 and AG9 series TVs are largely similar. For example, they support HDR10 and Dolby Vision for high dynamic range. Furthermore, the 4k TVs have support for Netflix Calibrated Mode and IMAX Enhanced.

Sony does not give an exact release date for the OLED TVs, but the company does report that the 55″ and 65″ versions will be available from the beginning of June. The 77″ TV will be available from the end of June.
