Sony has announced the prices and availability of the AG8 OLED televisions. The 55″ version has a suggested retail price of 2499 euros and the 65″ version costs a thousand euros more. The televisions will be available in the Benelux from the end of May.

The Sony AG8 series is placed under the more expensive AG9 series, partly because the AG8 TVs do not have the X1 Ultimate image processor. The AG8 OLED TVs have to make do with the X1 Xtreme chip that was also in the AF8 series, the predecessor of the AG8 series. Sony does not report an exact release date for the Benelux and only says that they will be available from the end of May.

There are also specifications that match the AG9 series, such as the special Acoustic Surface audio system, which vibrates the entire screen of the TV to generate sound waves. HDR10 and Dolby Vision are supported for high dynamic range. Furthermore, the 4k TVs have support for Netflix Calibrated Mode and IMAX Enhanced.

Users who want to place a soundbar under the TV can make room for it by turning the stand by 180 degrees. This causes the TV to rise. A swivel function is also provided so that the viewing angle can be optimized. Google Assistant and Chromecast are built-in, although only the AG9 series also has Apple Airplay 2 and HomeKit support.
