Sony will not put Vision S car into production
Sony will not take its concept car Vision S into production and sell. That’s what the Japanese company says. Sony showed the car in its presentation at the CES electronics show in Las Vegas. The car contains all techniques that are available and, according to Sony, should be allowed on the public road.
Sony informs car site The Drive that it currently has no plans for production and sale of the car. Nevertheless, the car should be allowed on public roads. “It’s a working prototype,” the Sony spokesperson said. “From the outset, the aim was to create a road-ready car and all aspects of build and styling were designed with regulatory safety requirements in mind.”
The spokesperson does not explain why Sony is not releasing the car, but does say why the company developed the car. The intention was to create a showcase for ‘the experience of being immersed all around in sensor technology and entertainment’. In addition, the ideas from the interior could be reflected in models from other manufacturers.
Sony sells technology for cars, but does not have any car models in its range. In addition, the Japanese company has collaborated with Magna Steyr, the company that has built the Jaguar iPace, BMW Z4, Toyota Supra and several other models in recent years, including for Mercedes. Sony showed the Vision S during its presentation at CES earlier this week.
