Sony updates Xperia Z3+ and newer models to Android 7.0 Nougat
Sony has announced which smartphones will receive an update to Android 7.0 Nougat. The Xperia Z3+, which came out in mid-2015, is the oldest device that Sony is equipped with the new Android version. It is not yet known when the updates will come.
In addition to the Xperia Z3+, the Z4 Tablet, Z5, Z5 Compact and Z5 Premium will also receive an update to Android 7.0. Sony only gives its high-end models an update to the new version. The Z3 series that came out in 2014 is excluded. That is striking, because Sony itself made a preview version of Android N available for the Z3.
The new Xperia X, XA, XA Ultra and X Performance that have been released this year also get the latest version of the operating system. Sony has not yet announced when the devices will receive the update, the manufacturer states that the release will differ per market and provider. More details will be announced in the near future.
Google released the final version of Android 7.0 Nougat on Monday. At the moment, the new version is only available for the Nexus devices. HTC already made in a tweet at the end of June known that the HTC 10, One M9 and A9 will get an update to Android 7.0. Other manufacturers have not yet announced which devices will definitely receive the update.
