Sony to hold PlayStation Showcase event on September 9
Sony has announced a PlayStation Showcase event taking place online on September 9. The event will last for 40 minutes and will give a glimpse into the future of the PS5, according to the company. There will be no announcements about PlayStation VR.
During the 40-minute event, Sony will provide updates on the projects Playstation Studios are working on. Game developers who are working on new titles for this fall and who can announce news about them will also be reviewed. More revelations from game developers will follow at the end of the presentation.
Sony reports that PlayStation VR and VR games will not be discussed at this event. It is rumored to have a 110-degree field of view, OLED screens that support HDR and controllers with touch sensors for a few fingers. The new generation of PSVR is rumored to be released at the end of 2022.
It also remains to be seen whether Sony will make announcements during the event about a next firmware update that activates the M.2 slot of the Playstation 5 so that users can expand the storage capacity of their Playstation. At the end of July, the manufacturer announced details about how Playstation 5 owners can expand the SSD storage themselves.
The online event can be followed on the Playstation YouTube and Twitch channel on Thursday, September 9.
